Jazz @ Gallery MC: Gordan Spasovski – Trio

Friday, October 1th from 7 pm: pianist Gordan Spasovski, with Kiril Tufekchievski on double bass and Viktor Filipovski on drums.

Gordan Spasovski – Trio is formed in 2017 by the pianist Gordan Spasovski, with Kiril Tufekchievski on double bass and Viktor Filipovski on drums. They have had many concerts in the Blakan region, performing their original music and compositions of many great jazz composers that have influenced their musical expression. Besides functioning as an independent trio, these musicians have been a rhythm section of many ensembles such as: ZJM Big Band, Bopheads, Ivan Ivanov Quartet, John Ilija Apelgren – Quintet, Marija Dimitrijevic – Quartet, etc. Their first album “Light Pillar” was recorded in 2019 and released in 2021, and since the they have presented this music on many regional festivals, such as: in Skopje on “Today it’s all about jazz”, a festival organised by the Association of jazz musicians in Macedonia, in Podgorica and Bar, Montenegro organised by “Jazz Art Association”, in Bitola on “Jazz Factory Festival”, Prilep on “Prilep Jazz Weekend” etc. Besides working on their original music, they have also been performing many traditional song of the Balkan region in their own arrangements and jazz compositions arranged in a way that has a hint of the root sound of macedonian tradition. These musicians have performed with different ensembles on many notable music festivals such as: Belgrade Jazz Festival, Trieste Loves Jazz – International Jazz Festival, Venezia Jazz Festival, Brasov International Jazz Festival, Skopje Jazz Festival, Ohrid Summer Festivals well as in some of the most notable jazz clubs throughout Europe, such as: Jazzclub Unterfahrt München, B-flat Jazzclub – Berlin, Blue Note – Osnabrück etc. They have been also Gordan has performed with the following notable musicians: Kurt Elling, Don Menza, Vladimir Nikolov, Nicolas Simion, Martin Gjakonovski, Stefan Schultze, Peter Ehwald, etc. As a sideman he appears on the following albums: “The Backyard Jazz Orchestra”, John Ilija Apelgren’s “a Tribute to Nat King Cole” and Martin Gjakonovski’s “The Music of Dragan Gjakonovski – Shpato” etc. As a co-leader he appears on a duo album with the Macedonian vocalist John Ilija Apelgren called “Midnight Conversation” and as a leader on his trio album – Light Pillar.
