Opening Reception:

Miloš Kodžoman II belongs to the new generation of artists who have emerged at the beginning of the 1970s. His artistic projects included the first progressive manifestations like performance and installation, unknown to the Macedonian scene before that. Provoked by the burdening norms and prejudices of the time, he expressed with his opus, attitudes and behavior his revolt through his own search and committed approach to the reality.

Miloš Kodžoman II feels the reality spontaneously, but he concurrently creates a reality of his own. Figuration, and particularly the human destiny, was the basic constant element in his artworks, permeated with ethnic, religious and political, as well as erotic elements. All this rendered an artistic condensate of an authentic creative ethno-transcript on the particularity of a culture and tradition, modeled in a modern way.

His opus opens the question of whether the global culture actually can exist as such. Using the achievements of the globalism, from a position of inferiority, Kodžoman II carries a message on the particularity and identity of his people who have preserved the “endemic” characteristics and esthetic issues which are part of the current project of this artist who skillfully points out how can an old topic be shown in a new and contemporary way.

Following the existing constants that present him with special familiar features, Miloš Kodžoman II has established himself in all of his creative stages as a foreteller and anticipator of the illusion of the earthly reality which somehow, in an unusual visual way, turns into a different, higher reality.
