Flutist Laura Falzon together with pianist Daniel Beliavsky perform a program of works for flute and piano, including works by George Crumb, Marin, Marias, David Del Tredici, César Franck and Ned Rorem.
Falzon and Beliavsky perform regularly as a Duo often performing American composers’ works. Flutist Laura Falzon who has premiered numerous works including pieces by Halim El-Dabh, Theodore Wiprud, Mohammed Fairouz, Dai Fujikura, Alice Shields and Bushra El-Turk, plays with “exuberance” and “poise” according to composer Halim El-Dabh who adds that her “flute’s voice seems to come from the heart”. Her passion and verve to promote and perform new music has been acknowledged many times–the Journal of the British flute Society described her as “fearless in tackling and promoting it“. Pianist Daniel Beliavsky, is also an avid performer of music of the modern era. He has also performed and recorded many American composers’ works including works by David Del Tredici, Donald Harris, Milton Babbitt, and Lukas Foss whose first complete collection of solo piano music he recorded. Daniel’s interpretations have been hailed as fresh and exciting., and The Chicago tribune said that he performs “with impressive strength and Clarity”.
