Port of Entry: New York
Musicians from across the world, who all now call New York City home, explore their artistic heritage in a double feature concert at Port of Entry: New York at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, March 3 with New York Artist Management (NYAM) and Composers Concordance. The goal of the event is to give back artistically to this great cultural melting pot that has captured their hearts.
The first half of the concert features internationally acclaimed pianist Jasna Popovic, world music vocalist Tamara Jokic (Serbia), pianist Ruoting Li (China), mezzo-soprano Rachel Arky (USA), soprano Nefer Alexandra Linde (Sweeden), tenor Pavel Suliandziga (Russia), and the CompCord String Quintet premiering contemporary works from a global array of composers including Luigi Porto (Italy), Dina Pruzhansky (Israel), Gene Pritsker (USA), Petar Krstajic (Serbia) and Mark Kostabi (Estonia).
The evening concludes with renowned Serbian Guitarist Nemanja Bogunovic (Serbia) and the chamber ensemble, Strings Attached, presenting music from his latest album Bogunovic plays Bogunovic . Mr. Bogunovic’s compositions will bring the audience on an emotional journey evoking a sense of cinema, reflecting the scent of the Mediterranean, pulses of Latin America, a touch of Asia, and elements of Serbian folklore.
Performing alongside these artists will be musicians from Turkey, China, Poland, South Korea, Israel, Russia, Sweden, Spain, Andorra, Estonia and Italy.
It is our intention to use the opportunity of this concert to connect and strengthen the international community by bringing together organizations working with and for immigrants.
