Xhezair Rexhepi: Artist in Residence

Basic inspiration in the realization of sculptures for Xhezairi Rexhepi are forms of natural and organic, such as organic, human figures, exotic animals, leaves etc. which gradually transfer from known associative visuals, to a form of a vague abstract, but with energy and suggestive strong appearances, which, although in some cases seem enigmatic, they still remind us of views fit into our memory and after viewing the works, they seem to resurface and come back to life, in real environments.

Sculptural forms are always presented with an incomplete body, stylized, with parts combined and reconnected with each other in an improper way, extended heads and stylized, wrapped in various materials of natural and artificial origin like; polyester, compresses and artificial iron which provide rich texture. The surfaces of the sculpture are skimmed dark colored, reddish and black and underpin the aesthetic idea.

The artistic concept of Xhezairi is strong, with theme anthology of the beauty and ugliness of the art, with an expression and aesthetical original symbolism and messages on our daily visual reality and an approach to his vocation, gives to his work an aesthetic artistic direction to the visual not as easy as sculpture.
